Fares and Passes
One-Ride Fare and All-Day Passes
Passengers can pay a One-Ride Fare or buy an All-Day Pass when boarding any WATA bus or trolley. Be sure to have exact change ready while waiting for the bus, as credit cards are not accepted on board.
- One-Ride Fare: $1.50
- All-Day Pass: $3.00
Before paying, please inform the bus operator which ticket you would like. Keep in mind that bus operators and fareboxes do not provide change.
Multi-Day Passes
Multi-Day passes are available for purchase at the WATA Customer Service Center and Ticket Office, located at the Williamsburg Transportation Center:

Monday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
(Closed for lunch from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.)

Reduced Fare Eligibility
Reduced Fare is available for seniors aged 65 and older, Medicare recipients, and individuals with certain disabilities. To qualify for Reduced Fare, you must present ID proving your eligibility each time you board the bus or trolley.
WATA Reduced Fare ID Cards
WATA issues Reduced Fare ID cards for eligible individuals. You can show this ID card to the Bus Operator when boarding to receive the Reduced Fare. To apply for a Reduced Fare ID, please visit the Customer Service Center and Ticket Office at the Williamsburg Transportation Center.

WATA is excited to announce the launch of fare payments through the Transit app! WATA riders can now purchase their tickets directly in the Transit app by using the “Buy ticket” button at the bottom of the app, quickly and conveniently. Users can create a Transit account and enter their credit card information to purchase a ticket, and the full range of WATA tickets and passes are available.

Fare Free Days
WATA offers free fare for both its fixed route and paratransit services the following holidays:
- Transit Equity Day: A day to honor Rosa Parks and promote equity in public transit.
- Earth Day: Encourages environmentally-friendly actions like using public transit instead of driving.
- Bike to Work Day: Promotes cycling as a mode of transportation, with free fare for passengers traveling with bikes.
- Election Day: Helps make voting more accessible by offering free rides to polling locations.
